Patricia's Story
Life
Hi Classmates.......
All tucked in! Having left Lafayette in 1960 I arrived back on the 'home front'in June 2007 and settled in Rossmoor, in Walnut Creek. My life has been an adventure-filled and exciting journey!
From Fresno State (rather short stay)I ventured to Yosemite (see my 'before' picture). I sang at the Awahanee Hotel for a while, for fun and a little $$, after my 'day job' which was teaching skiing (winter) and reservations/Asst. Mgr. Big Trees Lodge (which isn't there any more)in the summers. Continuing to enjoy activies here (incl Acalanes Alumni Club) and yes, so fortunate to still be playing tennis! Loving being in touch with classmates in the 'neighborhood! Looking forward to our 61st reunion and seeing everyone on Oct. 15, 2021!😍👍
Then, on with a group from Yosemite to Vail, where we opened the 'Lodge At Vail' ~ and the whole resort, it's first year! Summers were amazing, with no paved streets and about 120 residents! Heaven! Next trip, back to Yosemite, then back to Vail and on to Aspen, doing property management and several other endeavors. Enough of the snow and it was off to Newport Beach, CA for some boating experiences. The opportunity to crew on boat deliveries drew me in, the longest being from Fo...Expand for more
rt Lauderdale to Majorca on a '56 Columbia, crew of four. Lots of adventures here and not all to be envied!
Eventually I settled in Vista, CA (San Diego County)and retired after 15 years with the school district. (There were stops in between, but that's another story.) Yes, I was married and had a darling stepson, a true delight!
Travels to various places in the world, with Scotland, Hawaii, Belize and Greece being my favorites, but then I have lots more to see!
It's exciting to see more of my classmates moving into my community and we have an Acalanes Alumni Club here now. Mel and Vicki Simpson, Beverly Meinbress and Fran Elvin and husband Shelton all live on the same street here in Rossmoor! We're taking over the place!!
So, still single (divorced), still enjoying every bit of everything possible and grateful that I can! It's been a wonderful adventure and I'm still up for more of them!
So, what are YOU up to??
I hope you're all well and happy!!
Stay in ...or get in touch. There's LOTS of catching up to do!
I'd love to see profiles, photos...the works!
Warm Regards,
Pat Dickson
PS My brother, Henry (Hank) Dickson, class of '59, was lost overboard off of a sailboat between Tahiti and Hawaii in 1982 and I miss him dearly.
