Patricia's Story
40 years in a crack of the nut shell:
I made a big mistake with my last high school boyfriend due to my rebellious streak.
He was smart, responsible, handsome and just didn't want me to smoke....
So then I did go to Chapman College for awhile and was in a "scandalous" play a-la Laugh-in, which made the news (wearing flowers painted on flesh colored tights) and then to Saddleback. The University of Seville, Spain was the most unique college experience ('70-'71). I was voted Miss Foreign Student and danced with the president of the university. I came back and finished at the University of California at Fullerton.
I was married to the worse guy I ever brought home (my mother said). We had 3 boys right away. Nevertheless I worked my way up to the executive level with Clinique Cosmetics working for them for 6 years before department store management.
After my divorce in 1993 I was offered a job, in 1994, that I couldn't refuse in Tennessee. It was $10,000.00 more than I was making in Victorville, CA and I have relatives here. long time I tested him to see what he was made of. Like I told him that I had been a mud wrestler in CA and he believed me. Eventually my Type A personality slowed a little and I came to appreciate his kindness. We married in 1997 and live in Memphis. He is as good as gold and we live in the house on the hill (as some call it, y'all).
I am amazed at the opportunities that come up for me to use my Spanish here. I work sometimes with Calvary Chapel to tutor English or Spanish.
Now I have a career as a Certified Chiropractic Therapist and enjoy that very much with better hours. The rest of my time is spent with my adorable grandchildren. One of my sons lives here and I have 2 step-children here. My other 2 sons live in the greater LA area. All of my sons are in their 30's.
P.S.The photo collage, above, was prepared for local auditions. I've had a lot of fun doing dinner theater.
The picture shows me in 1954 (my dad
was teaching golf to Johnny Weismiller, the 1st Tarzan, and Mom & I got to visit the movie set, see Cheetah. Then there's Roy Rogers & Dale Evans who were neighbors of my folks in Apple Valley, CA and customers were I worked.
