Patricia's Story
Life
I traveled when I was young. My father was in the Army. I did go to high school in Puerto Rico from 1963 to 1965 at Antilles High School. I worked on the Pirates Pages newspaper. I graduated in 1965 from Irvin High School in El Paso, Texas, and went on to Texas Western where I stayed only 2 years. I met the man I'm married to now, Ray Holguin, and I quit Texas Western to go to work. I then had two children, a son who is now 35 and a daughter who is 31 now.
My daughter blessed us with twin grandchildren. My grandbabies are the "lights" of my life! What fun! I'm sure...Expand for more
many of you can relate. I did medical transcription for 27 years and the finally when I was 43, in 1990, I decided to finish college and in 1995, at 48, got my B.I.S. degree in education from UTEP. I began teaching in the Socorro District. I've taught 6th, 5th, and 4th, 2nd, and 1st grades in that order. I will be going back to 4th grade after Christmas, 2008. I plan to teach at least another 3 years. It's hard work, but very rewarding. I've been in El Paso around 45 years and love it here. Of course, I may move to Dallas where the grandbabies are when I retire. We'll see!
