Patti's Story
Life as of 11-19-2013.
Left good ol' Newark High at end of junior year. Moved to Texas, went to Sunset High School in Dallas and worked at the Dallas Cowboy games at the Cotton Bowl.
My first REAL job was at Dallas Times Herald newspaper {since closed}, where I got paid $1.45 an hour to write advertising. What I remember most about it is the practical jokes I played. No one was safe. So immature at 17 years old. And, when there was a fire in the attic above us. We stayed at our desks working as firemen with water hoses rushed in to save the day.
Married at 19 years old (in 1969) to a Texan, John Gamble. We moved to California in 1978. He never lost that Texan accent, ya'll. I retired December 1999 from the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. Returned to Texas in 2004, then back to Elk Grove, California Dec, 2008. Missed Texas a lot, though. So, guess what???
Returned to Texas in 2011 and live in the country (again) in East Texas (the best kept secret in Texas is East Texas). It'...Expand for more
s amazing, ya'll. Love, love, love it.
Still have a home is California. So, with the housing market skyrocketing there, we'll be making a trip back in early spring to get it ready to sell. Looking for a nice home in a great Elk Grove neighborhood? It could be your's!
Anyway, back to Texas. Just finished building our "Dream Home" on the most beautiful 8 acres I've seen in a long time. Deer, coyotes, llamas, cows, armadillos and an occasional fox keeps us entertained. We've spent years buying and remodeling homes for resale. This is the first home we built from the ground up and it's amazing, if I do say so. (Please pardon my lack of modesty here, but we just love it!).
We have 2 children (John, 43 and Lisa, 41) and five grandchildren, 21 year old girl, two 18 year old boys (not twins though), a 15 year old girl and, get this, a 18month old granddaughter & two great granddaugthers almost 3 and 1 years old.
Hope all my fellow classmates are happy, healthy and enjoying their "golden years."
