Patricia's Story

Well lets see, after high school I spent a couple years "finding myself". I worked as a phlebotomist on campus and then at St. Anthonys hospital. In 81 I started at osu i spent 2 years working full time and going to school full time, (I thought I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up) but I had a change of heart while working at st anthonys. In 83 I was living in german village with lori elliott and her husband when i met my prince charming...we were neighbors and it was love at first sight. I started working for the Mead corp. in 84, first in chillicothe at the research division and then in dayton for mead imaging and finally back in chillicothe with research. I worked for mead a total of 14 years, retiring in 98. Steve (my husband) and I were married in 85 and we have three (sometimes wonderful) children, well actually they are not children anymore. My oldest son, was our baseball player, David in high school pitched his team to the state finals. He then played division I baseball at longwood univ in virginia. he is now a senior at wright state univ. studying to be a mechanical engineer. Our middle son, marcus, is our football player, he played his freshman year for otterbein college, and he currently is going through government red tape in order to join the airforce reserves, his aspiration is to become a lawyer and otterbein is not cheap, so hopefully the air force will be picking up the tab. And last but certainly not least is our youngest, Maggie is 17 and just recently graduated (as a junior) from high school, she'll be attending ohio university chillicothe in the fall on a full scholarship studyin...Expand for more
g to be a neurologist. As you can probably tell I'm extremely proud of my children. They are by far my greatest accomplishment. After I "retired" from Mead I spent about a year being a housewife, then got tired of not having my own life and went back to work part time teaching computer classes. When sept 11th happened the state cut their budget and the adult education classes were the first to go. That's when a good friend and I decided to start our own business. We started "Maids of Honor" a cleaning business in 2001 and we've been doing that ever since. I live in Frankfort, which is in southern ohio, about 60 miles south of columbus. We've completely restored an 1870's victorian farmhouse, which by the way is for sale and can be seen on youtube.com (just search 4124 county road 550) the house includes 2.1 acres, but there's an additional 14.67 acres which would be perfect for a developer. We're selling so that we can build our retirement home (It's about that time in life) we have 65 acres just outside of frankfort that has served as my boys hunting retreat for the last 15 years. We currently plant crops to attract deer and wildlife which I'll spend the next 20 years shooing out of my garden and flower beds. I guess my next goal in life would be to build my own home...steve says, "there is no way we're building it ourselves" but I think that would be so cool. So that's what I've been up to for the last 30 years. It doesn't seem possible that its been 30 years, it feels like only yesterday. I really hope we have a good turn out for the reunion it would be so much fun reminiscing about old times.
