Patricia's Story
Life
Greetings!
I first give thanks to God for the life He has blessed me to have. The lessons I have learned and the joys of the day are so many, and I am thankful for every bit of it! I am happily married to an awesome and incredible man whom I met one year after graduating from Jackson State University in 1987. The interesting thing is that we didn't marry until some ten years later!
After graduation from Provine in 1983, I majored in Music (Piano Performance) at Jackson State University, finished there in 1987, then attended graduate school at Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis). I enjoyed Memphis, mostly because I met my husband there. He and I dated for a brief while, and then off I went in 1989 to move to Orangeburg, South Carolina, where I worked for two years in the Department of Music at Claflin University. After two years at Claflin, I moved to sunny and beautiful Miami, Florida, where I began teaching Elementary/General Music in the Miami-Dade County Schoo...Expand for more
ls. I attended Florida International University while in Miami, received a Master's in Music Education, and then moved to Tallahassee, FL, to pursue a doctorate degree in Music Education/Ethnomusicology at Florida State University. Michael and I got married in Tallahassee, one year after I began my coursework at FSU. After Tallahassee, we moved back to South Florida, where I taught for awhile (Florida International U. and Barry University), two years to be exact. At the current time, we are living in the Daytona Beach area where we get to see the ocean every day, lots and lots of motorcycles, and all the car-racing stuff you could ever dream of!!! It's fun, though, and incredibly relaxing. I spend my work days at Bethune-Cookman College where I serve as Assistant Professor and Director of Music Education. That's fun, too! We have no children as of yet, but are happily enjoying each other and our everyday lives.
To all, take good care,
Dr. Patricia Reeves-Johnson
