Patricia's Story

Hello everybody, Time keeps marching on... 2011 in nearly half over already. Wow, time seems to fly more now than ever. Where has all the time gone since graduation?! I've been married for 43 years! Wow! And to the same man too! How unusual is that in this day and age?! He is James Brown! (As in "I feel good!") Ha! (And Yes, Mr. Roaldi, He's the same Sailor that I skipped school for and then you suspended me and would not let me attend the Senior Prom!) I can laugh now. We have one son, Michael (who is older than I care to think about) and a beautiful soon to be 15 year old granddaughter, Hailey. She is in the 9th grade already... which is a very scary place to be in 2011. Back "in our day" ...we talked on the phone for hours... "Today" they are "texting" like mad, doing mobile uploads to Facebook and Twitter! All this techno stuff we could not even imagine to see in our lifetimes. Hailey is in love with a new boy everyday! UGH! Lord help me! Anyhow...We have moved around many times over the years following James railroad career in senior management... Buffalo, Albany, Connecticut, Chicago and Moline, IL, then back to Buffalo for three years, then on to Texas (my favorite) and then to New Jersey for the last 19 years. What an expensive state to retire in!! I keep telling James that we should think about downsizing and moving south (which will not happen)! I do love being by the Jersey shore though (not liking what I hear about the TV show Jersey Shore so much though). My office is just a few blocks from the Ocean Grove boardwalk (google Ocean Grove, it's a really neat little village) and I love to go there at lunch time, especially during the spring and fall. Summer... forget it...too many tourists, winter it's too cold! We are also right here by Asbury Park which is under going a wonderful Renaissance! The Stony Pony, Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi are here too! We also have an office in NYC which is about 50 minutes north (depending on traffic). I'm sure glad I don't have to commute there every day! And if you like gambling Atlantic City is an hour south... (AC doesn't compare to Vegas though.) Oh, and don't forget historic Philly, just an hour west. Jim and I are still 'cruising' and collecting cars. No surprise to those that know us! Our barn holds many treasures but most loved is our 1964 Pontiac GTO, modified, of course! It has a Jim Butler 474 stroker motor, a real pro-street animal! Yes; I still have a LEAD foot. And no we will never grow up...Expand for more
! Keeps us young! Ok, enough about cars. I did not attend college until 14 years after high school while we were living in Naperville, IL, just outside Chicago. My Mom had wanted me to go in the service after high school so as not to get married. LOL! She may have been somewhat right because I have been told that I missed my calling... I should have been a Marine drill sergeant. Maybe it's the Taurus in me...just a tad bossy?! Nah... LOL I love to travel, Jim not so much but he's a good sport and tags along most times. A couple of the best places we have been are London (right after Princess Diana died) and Italy. Absolutely loved it! Rome, the Amalfi coastline (absolutely superb!) Positano (very quaint), Naples, Sicily, Mount Etna (erupting), Taormina, Palermo. Fascinating!! We went to both London and Italy with two other couples, it was great fun! We also timeshare (we own in Kissimmee) but we often trade and go somewhere new a couple times a year. Mexico has some great places for snorkeling and scuba diving... but Puerto (Nuevo) Vallarta is not one of them. We went there spring 08 and we were hugely disappointed. I also love to meet up with my sisters somewhere, one from Ohio and the other from Buffalo and spend time together ~ just us girls. We did Myrtle Beach Sept 08 and we're thinking Hawaii next! My sister from Ohio owns a timeshare on Kauai and they go every year for 2 weeks over Christmas! Lucky her but then she IS retired! I definitely work and can't see myself retiring (not yet anyway). Just got back from another week in Myrtle spring break 2011 with my two sisters and this year my brother Steve joined us. Please say a prayer for Steve and his wife Faith. Faith has been missing since June 28 last year (2010). You can google Faith Willison for more information. The good Lord has blessed me with a great job (19 years) that I love. I am GM and CFO, we have two divisions; both wholesale distribution; one giftware, the other apparel. (Scaasis Originals and Oceanic Trading Co) Life has been good, can't complain too much. My father is 91 and is still living in Ohio; my mother passed away in April 09 and is now dancing in heaven with Jesus. PTL! Have to ask, how did we ever live without the computers, internet, cell phones and GPS? I don't know about you but I use all of them constantly. Look me up on Facebook. I've kept up with a few dear friends over the years but also hope to hear from more of you! May God Bless each one of you! ~ Later...
