Patrick's Story
WOW.....
Worked at/for (the) Indy (500) two years, Developed an automatic timing and scoring system used there, and elsewhere in Racing, and been in/around Motor Sports for years.
Friends with Vic Elford, the internationally known LeMans Racer, and who drove Jim Hall's Chaparral vacuum cleaner Can AM racer at Laguna Seca in the mid-late 60s while we were at MHS.
Vic doubled, and did the real driving of the Porsche 917 for Steve McQueen in the Movie, "Le Mans"
Have recently seen/contacted Ken Bradford. Worked, early 90's with Alan Niebel continue to touch base with Alan from time to time.
Recently talked to Stan Hryn..the MHS electronics teacher, who is still at it, teaching (!)
Sad to hear of the passing of one of my favorite teachers, Reuben Pearson,
German teacher, Room 79, MHS, several years back.
Also wonder about Louise Kelley, English teacher, another of my favorite teachers, who reminds me of Jean Kirkpatrick, (R.I.P.) one of my other, highly admired women. (alongside Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Reese Witherspoon, Heidi Klum, etc...)
Was in contact with Donna Murphy, early-Mid 90's... lost track of her some time back.
Used to share morning coffee with from time to time, Willie Matsuyama, of PG&E at Cypress Coffee shop.
Talked to Dave Dettman some time back, who reti...Expand for more
red as a Fisheries biologist, now is same as a consultant. Dave has a place in Ben Lomond, and Quincy, CA.
If I move back to Monterey, at some time in the future, will probably eventually make a visit to (Dr.) Sue Karahalios, who I recently learned is a Cardiologist at CHOMP... If my family genes/history are any indicators.
I have now, this year outlived my father, in years..The numbers say I am old, but I don't feel old, most of the time.
As Paul Newman (RIP Paul) told me once, "this growing old, it ain't for sissies" Paul was an incredibly talented guy, world class racer, and obviously world class actor, way into his 70's. My yet all time favorite movie, starred Paul, is/was
"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"
Got to know Joe Walsh, (Hotel California) formerly, and now back, Consumate guitarist with the EAGLES, due to common interests in professional audio, and of all things, Ham Radio. Both he and I are hard core Ham Radio enthusiasts.
Also, recently discovered in a big way Stevie Ray Vaughn (;^( (RIP Stevie), who IMHO, is possibly the greatest Blues Guitarist that ever lived.
