Life: ------ Being transformed daily! All and all, I can't complain, I have been absolutely blessed. Despite some ups and downs, by the grace of God, I always manage to land on my feet. BUSINESS: ========= In 1990, I founded the largest Internet based singles/dating website MatchMaker.com. The site was profitable and self-funded (no venture capital) until February 1999. The site has had over 4 million users yielding up to 200 million page views per month. The company sold to Lycos in 2000 for 45 million dollars. I was the founding President/CEO of the company, the first full-time employee and largest common share holder. Under my leadership we were the stickiest site on the web, growing 8% every month. Humble clarification, I did NOT make the entire 45 million dollars from MatchMaker.com sale. At the time of the sale there were 200 shareholders. However, I did do very well from this transaction. Today as a result of this experience, I am far more of a business professional than an electrical engineer. 2007 UPDATE: =========== Lycos was sold to a Korean company and they sold MatchMaker.com to Date.com in Florida. Today, I own another "MatchMaking" Internet site/portal for Lawyers, it is called ExpertWitness.com. We place experts with law firms around the world for every imaginable form of litigation. Currently we are "drinking from a fire hose" as thousands of legal professionals are coming to the network every day. My goal is to get this company merged in with a larger company/biz-partner as I did with MatchMaker.com. This time I will be done, I am not sure what I will do next, however, I am thinking it is time for the more altruistic side of my life to kick in. PERSONAL: ========== I am just an average unassuming person. I fit into many different social and business venues. I am typically very mellow and down-to-earth ("Raymond Look") or completely the opposite and cleaned up in a business suit/tie. My strongest skills/assets are the ones that surface after the first meeting. These days I have my hair grown out much longer. Those of you that attended the 10-year reunion will understand. Today, I grow hair anywhere God will let me grow it. It's a long story, in 1992; my life came to a complete stop when I was told I had a second stage lymphoma (cancer). It took 9 months of chemotherapy and radiation. I guess it was Gods way of getting me ready for other trials in my life. The good news is by God's grace I WON! It's now been 25 years. You can see from the pictures that I have many dogs, many in my heart and three live with me in Southlake TX. Single, I was married; I filed for a divorce after 2 years. I do not have any children. Simply put, I was happy to be married, just not "happily" married. She wanted to be married but act single. (Where is the covenant in that) Everything is this area of North Texas revolves around man-made lakes; the concept of an ocean does not exist. I have to say that I do miss Long Island, I have thought many times about moving back as with my career, a laptop and an Internet connect...Expand for more
