Patrick's Story
Life
This is my bio from my bookwriting endeavors: There is no doubt that author Patrick Crowell has much in common with the fictional heroine of his three novels, Adel Blair. Both are aggressive trial lawyers, national rowing champions and skillful surfers. They share the same alma maters: Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, for undergraduate study, and the University of Florida in Gainesville, for law school.
As a California native, Patrick got his feet wet as a surfer in the Pacific Ocean. However, that was short lived because he soon moved to Florida, following his family to Orlando after his father, a Disney executive, was summoned to oversee expanding operations at Walt Disney World. Since changing coasts, Patrick surfs the Atlantic Ocean whenever possible especially when hurricane season hits. Once a year he makes a sojourn to Costa Rica with surfing buddies in search of the perfect wave.
His passion for rowing was sparked when he was an undergraduate at Rollins pursuing a degree in philosophy. Since then he never stopped rowing. In 1991, Patrick became a world champion double sculler in the world of Masters competition, and rowed in an eight-man crew of local Orlando rowers who beat the 1980 Olympic gold medallist eight from Russia. In 1992, he won his first singles national cham...Expand for more
pionship. Most recently he made a 30-year reunion return to the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in England.
After earning a bachelors degree in philosophy with high honors, Patrick entered the University of Florida Law School thus launching his legal career. A member of the Florida Bar since 1981, he has practiced law for over 25 years, primarily engaged in construction law, but at times involved in various discrimination and harassment cases as well. For three years, he worked as the in-house construction attorney at Walt Disney World.
Patrick is married to his lovely wife Maureen and has three grown children, two lovebirds and a dog. Their home overlooks one of Orlandos plentiful lakes which serves as inspiration for his writing and an outlet for his rowing. When he isnt rowing or writing, he is playing guitar and creating original songs with his rock band.
Recently, he has completed his third novel, The Body Surfers, in which Adel Blair returns for another adventure where she and her associates discover an unsavory underworld operation in Costa Rica trafficking humans and body parts. As in his previous two novels, Hostile Environment and Holy Environment, Patrick masterminds an unpredictable plot with vivid characters that entertain and enlighten.
