Life
For those who might remember me, I'm still a science fiction junkie and a math freak, but with a lot fewer hairs on my head.
I'm divorced and remarried with two sons, aged 30 and 25.
I recently retired from the position of senior electronics systems engineer in a small (100 employee) firm in California. Due to my position, I'm often required to make trips overseas, usually to places like Taiwan, Korea, and Malaysia. I end up putting over a 100,000 miles on airplanes on some years.
While I was young, I lived in England for three years, followed by two years in Australia, finally returning to the States where I played hopscotch through much of the mid-west and south. Then I entered the Air Force, and ended up staying in one place for more time than any other previous home (only two postings: Baudette, Minnesota and Mill Valley, CA). I returned to Australia for a couple weeks vacation in 2009, visited my old school there (where I had to give a speech to the current students about the changes in the school), along with trying to see my old home there. Unfortunately, it was torn down about 1960 and a more substantial home built a little further up the hill. Still brought back a lot of memories, and I started getting my Aussie accent back after just this short visit (I guess you never really forget).
My favorite activities are reading and posting reviews of same on Amazon (to find these, do a people search on Amazon for hyperpat, which is the screen name I use for most things internet), playing chess (I hold a Class A rating from the U. S. Chess Federation), square dancing (I dance at A2 level), and bowling (I hold about a 205 average, and am a former PBA member).
