Patsy's Story
Best years of my early life were in San Francisco at Roosevelt Junior High School. Best friends made there. Outstanding education there too.
Ran for President of Westmoor High School in Daly City. First female to run. I gave the guys a run for their money.
After High School, I went to SF State and got a credential. I got married to Roger Wilhelm in 1969. Taught from 71-78 in Half Moon Bay, then from 93-96 in Richmond and finally in Petaluma from 94 to 2001 when I retired.
I have 3 children. One is married and has given us two grandsons. The other two boys are still single. We live in Novato and always have a remodel project in the works.
We love to travel and have done plenty since Roger retired from the SFFD in 2003. Life is good and getting better.
Teachers I would love to see again include ones from all schools I have attended. Ms. Gee, Miss Lanier, Mr. Anderson, Mr. Marcus, Mr. Frankel, Mr. Cafferata.
Weirdest job I ever had was a barker out in front of an import store on Market called the International Market place. I also applied to demonstrate a device to reduce the waist. And I spent some months proof reading the telephone book for a company called Product Development Corporation.
I hope my old friends remember me as kind of kooky, willing to push the edge and yet very conservative in many ways.
Senior Ball
Classmates asked us to tell a story about our Senior Prom. Mine was memorable because I went with a very good friend who loved to dance and we really had a ball.
I waited until virtually 2 weeks before the Senior Ball to secure my date wit...Expand for more
h John Guz. I waited hoping that Dan Hartman who I had a huge crush on would ask me. When he didn't I asked John to take me. He was such a good friend he allowed me to wait until the last minute then proceed to tell him that I wanted a wrist corsage of Happiness red roses. Not just any red rose, it had to be Happiness!! What nerve.
We had dinner at the Gay 90's restaurant. That was back in the day when you could say gay and people just thought you meant happy, carefree. After the ball we went to North Beach and had coffee or a soda or something. The stress of how to explain that the evening wasn't going to end with sex was not there because we were just really good long time friends. We laughed and danced until I was all worn out, but in a good way. I will never forget that night or the wonderful friend who took me to my Senior Ball. We are still in touch today.
I attended my Junior Prom also with a very good friend from Junior High School. Denny Mora was a great dancer and so it was a natural to ask him. He wasn't much taller than me, but boy could that man dance. I lost track of Denny. Such a pity as he was a nice guy.
After telling those 2 stories I realized that I never dated anyone from the Class of 1965 Westmoor. If my memory is faulty and someone actually asked me out from my class, I apologize. I guess I wasn't their type.
Part of the problem too was that I was on again off again with a guy from Roosevelt Junior High in San Francisco for 5 or 6 years. So I wasn't really emotionally available to fellow classmates. I was just everyone's pal.
