Patti's Story

Workplace Food Lion is a Grocery Store, I started out as a cashier and I have been the Health & Beauty clerk for almost 7 years. I order all my product and stock it on the shelves. It can be a hard job sometimes but I do it to the best of my ability. I get alot of compliments from upper management on how well my department looks.I enjoy my job but I do look forward to retirement someday. In August 2006, we moved from North Carolina back home to Port Jervis, New York. My husband James works with his dad as a car salesman at Ed's Auto. I am a driver for Napa. It can be a great job when the weather is nice but it sucks when the weather is bad. I have 3 kids, my son David is 22 years old and he is a CO (Correctional Officer)at the Pike County Correctional Facility. His girlfriend Melissa Kindell lives with us. My daughter Nikkole just turned 18. She works at our local bakery. My youngest is Sarah and she will be 17 in June. She also works at our local bakery. Both of my girls just got their license this year and a car. It was very exciting for them. We recently went to Disney World for Nikkole's graduation present. We had a great time seeing Mickey Mouse and all his friends. We went to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We also went Downtown Disney alot. We ate at Planet Hollywood 4 out of 5 nights. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Nikkole finally graduated High School on June 27, 2008. She will be going to Suny Orange for 2 years, then transfer to Suny New Paltz for 2 years. She wants to be a Kindergarten teacher. Sarah will be a senior this coming school year. She is very excited to be in her last year of High School. She wants to go on to College to for Photography and Art. David is still at Pike County Correctional Facilty. He will be there for 2 years. They will then send him to school to become a Police Officer. Nikkole has moved out. I was ready for David and Melissa to move out but not Nikkole. She has moved to Maple Grove, Minnesota. Right now in January it's about 30 degrees below zero. We have around 22 degrees. We had freezing rain yesterday. I fell on the ice today and hit my head pretty hard. Nothing a day home from work didn't cure. Back to Nikkole, I miss her a lot. We call back and forth but as some of you know, it's not the same. David and Melissa went on a Carribean Cruise last week for their vacation. They had a great time. They came back sun tanned. They will be moving out soon. They are looking for an apartment or small house to rent. Sarah is looking forward for her senior year to be done. We are getting her ready for college. She has been accepted at Suny Orange. She is going to be a Medical Asst. She will take extra classes for photography and art. She enjoys both of those classes this year. She has come to realize just how good she can draw. David and Melissa moved out this past March. The live in a duplex in High Point Country Club. They like it there. James and I bought a house in Port Jervis. We are remodeling it completely. It sems to be taking a long time but it is exciting. Sarah is...Expand for more
in her first year of college. She made the Dean's list her first semester. Only 700 students out of 7000 made the list. I can't tell you how proud of her James and I are. She is a great kid and we love her so much. Nikkole is still in Minnesota. She is a Nanny for three little girls. They keep her on her toes. She makes me laugh when she calls me on the phone to tell me how bad one of them is. I told her it's good practice for when she has her own kids. David's 2 year anniversary for the Pike County Correctional Facility is coming up in March. He really likes his job and he wants to further his career in Law Inforcment. He and Melissa now live in Dingman's Ferry, PA. They are renting my sisters Linda's house which happens to be right next door to the house Linda and Louie live in. Our house is coming along. The sheetrock will start to go up tomorrow. We have all of our kitchen cabinets and appliances already but they can't be installed till the walls are up. We should be moving in about 2 months. All the finishing touches have to be done once the sheetrocl is up. There is the spackling and painting, the baseboard heat, and the electri needs to be finished. It's very exciting for us. I will update some pics to show you all. Well, my son David and his girlfriend Melissa broke up after being together for 5 years. It's really sad but it's better to figure it all out now instead of getting married then divorced. David is doing really well. His cousin Charles moved into the house with him so he at least has someone to help pay the bills. My oldest daughter Nikkole is still living in Minnesota. She is a nanny for 3 little girls. She really enjoys her job. It has it's moments for her but for the most part she really likes it. Sarah is in her second sesmester at college. She likes most of her classes. She hopes to graduate early so she is taking a couple of online classes too. We still aren't in our house. The sheetrock is up and the walls are getting spackled. We can probably start painting next weekend. The time to move in is getting closer. We have almost all the paint we will need. We have all the kitchen cabinets, appliances and bathroom cabnits sitting in a warehouse we are using waiting to be installed. Can't wait. Well, it's the middle of May and we still are not in our house. It's getting close. The walls are up, spakle is almost done and we have started the primer on the diningroom and kitchen. Once the painting is done the flooring goes down then the kitchen cabinets and the rest of the heating gets done. Then it's all the small stuff like the trim and outlets, etc. We also have to dig up the yard and have new sewer lines installed. That was not good news. This place is becoming one of those House Flip Nightmares. Nikkole is doing well in Minnesota. She is happy so I guess that's what matters. Sarah is done with her first year of college. Last semester she got straight A"s so I hope she does the same this semester. We are pretty sure she did. She has an easy schedule in the fall but a tough schedule next spring. She wants to graduate next year.
