Michael's Story
Life
Patti, Emily, Nathan, Cooper & Hammond (hunting dogs - Labs of course!) and I live in Spokane WA. I'm currently work as the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, for the Colville Tribe's Fish and Wildlife Department. We do lots of interesting work in Salmon / Steelhead recovery projects and also manage large and small game populations on and about the reservation. Since high school I've gone back to school a few times and lived and worked in several different places. Highlights include a forestry degree from the U of I, working for Boise Cascade as a forester in Central ID, working for the Forest Service and serving 10 years as a USAF officer. Had a lot of fun, got to travel and see a bit of the world but decided in 95 to make my exit from the AF at Fairchild and see if I could find an occupation with a little better work/life balance. Have since been employed in the corporate world mostly as an HR / Training and Development Manager and consultant. While working for Telect Inc. un! Picked up an MBA along the way and a number of certifications that I now struggle to keep current. Patti and I had a lot of fun as a "dual income no kids" couple but somehow two little people showed up and changed everything. They're growing up now and are in their teens, talking about cars and college. Over the years we've been pretty active in our church. Patti and I have served as worship leaders and participated in uncounted special programs. I still play guitar and sing a little when the mood strikes me. I still love to hunt and fish and got into whitewater rafting in a big way as a guide. Our favorite vacations seem to revolve around national parks in the US and Canada where we hike, soak in hot springs and take lots of photos - another expensive hobby. Some things never change. I'm still most comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt or flannel shirt, and still drive a pickup. Would rather live in a more rural area again but for now Spokane works for us. I make it back to Troy a couple times a year and like to look up old friends and classmates.
