Patti's Story
my life has been both extrodinary and typically average. pregnant at 16 i worked full time and went to high school / junior college before moving to ocean city maryland in 1984. I lived there 5 years, married and had a second son in 1987.Left md. in 89- moved to palm springs ca. and finished my nursing degree in the desert. My youngest son was severely dyslexic and always a struggle to educate properly. In 2001( during 9-11 ) i made the 4 year committment to return to md.so his dad could help us get him through high school.Chris graduated in 2005-is in the army gaurd and just an amazing kid ! He just returned from a yr. in Iraq -often volunteers for extra duties and assignments including his yr. over seas and a tour in Italy. He also has gone to junior college and has his cdl license and today was informed he is being offered a full time position recruting . Chris is now 21 !! and I have always called him my poohbear so he is known in these parts as" private poohbear".His graduation day was the happiest day of my life - I thought I would dance across stage with him and take the deploma myself. So my 4 yr committment ended 3 yrs ago except in 2004 i married a local truck driving redneck( jerry lee ) and for now, continue to be stranded in hicksville usa! Truthfully ,were only 30 min. from dover air force base and 1 hour from baltimore but it is a different world on the lower eastern shore. We live just a mile from the delaware/maryland line and I work in th...Expand for more
e ER of a hospital in Del.My older son Andrew(age 26) still lives near palm springs- has been married almost 7 years to a beautiful young lady name kayla-they have a five yr old-cole andrew and a second baby on the way.Andy is a massage therapist and kayla restraurant manages.I also have 2 grandsons from my husband's family and am closest to Kalton age 8. He lives in Florida and we all travel back and forth a lot. I also cared for Kalton the past 2 summers while his mom finished nursing school and whenever possible I take the grandsons traveling- usually to seattle to visit my sisters or to Orlando where we have a condo.I cant say life has been an easy thing but an adventure- yes! and I am truely blessed. My husband is the sweetest man any woman could ever ask for,my children and grandkids healthy and happy and I have been blessed with siblings who although live far- care about maintaining close relationships and always find the time to show they care about us.My mom died in palm springs 4 years ago-she is resting with her family in Detroit(where I was born ) and my best friend of 30 plus years (karen ) lives in northern Michigan now, so whenever possible I visit karen, mom and the rest of the family up north. I hope anyone who should read this can share as richly and endearing a story as mine.God Bless all, patti
p.s. I hate to type-hate the internet-always have-I only learned to use it this year so i could keep up with private poohbear while he was away.
