Patti's Story
Life
Well, the last five years have certainly been interesting ones for my family. Five months after the last reunion we made an unexpected move to Richmond, Va. (had been living in Forest Hill, Md.) for a job opportunity for my husband Aaron. I became a full time stay at home mom which I was thrilled to do (had been working as a psychiatric occupational therapist since graduating from Towson State). Our boys were 6 yrs. and 17 months at that time. Four months later came September 11th, 2001. That day Aaron's army national guard unit was activated (he stayed in the Maryland guard even after we moved) and they left early the next morning to secure the Pentagon. What we originally thought was to be a 30 day deployment turned into 13 months and he returned home the end of September 2002.
Nine months later his unit was once again activated, this time for a 9 month eployment primarily in Afghan...Expand for more
istan with missions also in Pakistan and Uzbekestan. Aaron returned home that time in May of 2004. As for me, well, I guess you could say I have been busy keeping my family together. We do love living here and have made many wonderful friends. Our boys are now 10 (Blair, 5th grade) and 6 (Brent, kindergarten). They both love sports, particularly baseball and are very much into skateboarding these days. I continue to be home full time and am able to do more volunteering with my youngest in school. I'm sure I'll return to work at some point but haven't decided if I will return to occupational therapy or head in another direction.
Most of our families are still in the Balto. area so we come north very often. In fact, I think we could do the I95 drive with our eyes closed! I truly feel blessed with my life and have much to be thankful for. I'm looking forward to catching up at the reunion.
