Paul's Story
Life
Guess most of us left Maconaquah and Bellevue right after school graduation, some to go to college and others to the armed forces. Like me, I went into the Navy after a stint at Ball State and they decided that Uncle Sam wanted me more than they did. Spent a few years on the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier, then on to a hopless life style as a Hippie. When I finally woke up, some four years later with one child (daughter) and divorced, I decided that the pot era was over and decided to concentrate on a career. Spent a few years in marine construction, then got a chance to go to Saudi Arabia in 1981. I spent five and a half years there and went through another divorce and responsible for another daughter. I cooled my heels until 1986 when I met my current wife. n Saudi Arabia in 1991, just after Desert Storm. Kathy (my wife) was pregnant at the time and joined me after five months in Saudi where my youngest daughter (Emily) was born. We stayed for two years and when they closed the airport in Saudi, I got a job with Bechtel in Miami at the International Airport on the Project Management Team. Stayed there for almost seven years, before I went to work with Florida Power and Light in the Juno Beach office. I was there about two years, before going to work at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Update - 053108 - After four years at UF, I am now living in Houston Texas and family is still in Florida. Still married and Emily is driving! In two years, Emily will be off to Flagler College in St. Augustine Florida. Kathy wants to join me in Texas if the situation with her mom has been worked out. Kathy likes not working, traveling, and chocolate martinis.
