Paul's Story
Major Broussard was born and reared in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of Phillis Wheatley High Schoo, Class of 1968. One year later he was drafted into the United States Army for a two-year tenure as a military policeman, and after completing a tour in Viet Nam, he received an early honorable discharge to enroll in college. At an early age, Major Broussard was engrossed in learning and developed an arduous work ethic that led him to receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and Masters of Public Administration from Troy State University, Troy, Alabama, and a Masters of Military Science from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
After receiving an Army commission as an administrative officer in the Adjutant General Corps in 1977, Major Broussard's duties and travels led him over three continents with a myriad of positions which included four commands. Other duties required his skills as marketing analysis, construction and engineering, budgeting, facility management, community relations, extensive coordination with the Civilian Personnel Office, and equal opportunity. a Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, and four Army Achievement medals.
Upon completing twenty-one years of active military service, he was employed as a Senior Army Instructor over the past seventeen years at five high schools in the Houston metropolitan area. Recognizing his talent after one year at his Alma Mater, he was tasked to initiate new JROTC programs at Sharpstown, Channelview, Raul Yzaguirre School for Success, and upgrade a program at Worthing high school. Each school progressed and received Honor Unit with Distinction, with RYSS receiving two such honors.
As a college professor for five years at Montgomery College, he established a reputation in teaching social studies at the high school and college levels. As a mentor for life, he conducted personal and career counseling for student's career decisions at the secondary and collegiate levels and has the honor of witnessing four of his high school proteges graduate from the University of Texas, and three from Texas A&M University.
Major Broussard and his wife Betty have one son who has servied twice in Iraq, and one granddaughter. He is an avid golfer and "Has Bowling Balls That Will Travel to any competition.
