After graduating from VVS, I attended Cornell University for five years and received a Bachelor’s of Architecture. After Cornell, I landed in Buffalo, New York at a large architectural / engineering firm. I thought I would spend about a year in Buffalo and then move to Boston or New York. I ended up staying in Buffalo for 14 years working at the same firm except at the end for the 14 years; I worked for a 5 man office for about 6 months. I found an opportunity in Chicago at Perkins+Will which was an architectural / engineering firm at the time. They had about 350 people and two offices when I started working for them. At their height, they had 22 national offices and probably 10 international office and roughly 1600 staff members. Because of the economy of the last few years, they are probably down to 1100 staff members.
