Paul's Story
Life
I moved around a lot growing up; Louisiana, Texas, Arizona. I went to South Beauregard from 7th grade until the middle of my Junior year when I moved up to Natchitoches, LA for the rest of that school year. I moved to Kingman that summer and made it through half of my senior year before moving back to Louisiana. After finishing up the last six months of my senior year at Kinder High School, I moved around for a few years-Florida, back to Louisiana, North Carolina, back to Louisiana, then Flagstaff, Arizona. In April 1995 I joined the Coast Guard and spent about a year and a half in Eureka, CA. After 6 months of 'A' school in North Carolina, I spent the next 3 years in Hawaii. I married my wife, Fritzie, while I was there and when I was discharged we moved back to Flagstaff, AZ. After a year there we moved to Denver, where we found out Fritzie was pregnant. Keely was born with Gastroschisis and was in intensive care for her first few months. After years of doctors and special formulas, she is better now. nd we were expecting another child. Dominic was born healthy and is now bigger than his big sister. In May 2005 I started the CHP academy and in November 2005 I graduated. I was sent to Monterey,CA for my first office. A beautiful area but cost of living is ridiculous. In May of 2007 I transfered to the Barstow,CA office. Wide open desert in 120 degree heat in the summer; Freezing temps, snow and high winds in the winter. In January of 2008 I reported to the CHP Academy in Sacramento, CA where I worked in the Office of Organizational Development (a fancy way of saying training unit). We provided training for officers who promote, instruct or work Headquarters positions as well as provide training for non-uniformed personnel. Then in January of 2009 I got my transfer up to Humboldt County (Eureka, CA). When I was in Eureka at the beginning of my Coast Guard career, I never dreamed I'd be back here wearing a CHP uniform. My wife started working on her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in August of this year (2009). Things have been great and I look forward to hearing from old classmates.
