Paul's Story
Life
I moved from my home in Payson, Arizona in 1979 to live with my father in Dallas Texas. I attended Trinity Christian Academy from 1979 to 1981. Some of my fondest memories and some of the best freinds I had during high school came from this class. I was a student manager for the Trinity Trojans Football Team for two years and on the Tennis Team for one year. I hung out with Tom Schwiensburg and David Jones a lot of the time.
In 1981 I moved to Northern California near the city of Chico, then in 1982 to the Kelseyville area where I finished my Senior at Kelseyville High School. I was in the Graduating Class of 1983. I did K-Corps Search & Rescue Team under Dick Arndt. I had a few good friends like Shelly Austin and Diane Camby and several good aquantances.
After Graduating I moved back to Oroville and I went to Butte Community College while working during the summer. My major was Computer Science but soon I realized I would not become "Bill Gates" and take over the world. While at Butte College I got involved with Student Government and held the position of Environmental Mass-Transit Advocate for two years as part of the Student Goverment Council.
When I returned back home to Oroville I joined my local County volunteer fire department (1983-2001) where I was an EMT, fire captain and training officer. From 1983 to 1991 I was also on the Butte County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue Team. C.A. Cert in Fire Science. I also pursued regular fire education and hold California State Fire Certification as a Firefighter I & II, Driver/Operator I, and Fire Officer.
I took some time off from school and went to work as a Seasonal Wildland Firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Forestry, the U.S. Forest Service, and the National Park Service from 1987 until 1995.
In 1990 I entered California State University Chico on a Part-Time basis while I continued to work as a seasonal firefighter for the federal government. I finished at California State University Chico in 1996 with a B.A. Degree in Public Administration.
It was in Chico where I met my fiance', Dana Rice, and we have been together ever since. After finishing college I found that I was making more money being a firefighter than an office job using my B.A. Degree could get me. I gave up the seasonal jobs and went to work for the Department of Defense at both Sierra Army Depot FD and Ft. Hunter-Liggett FD, until I landed my best job at the Presidio Fire Department in San Francisco where am a full-time Engineer/EMT. I currently live in Vacaville, CA, near the State Capital of Sacramento (also refered to as "AHRNOLD LAND"). I am also a volunteer Firefighter/EMT with the Vacaville Fire District (2001-Present).
In November of 2004 I married my fiance' Dana Rice in South Lake Tahoe.
