Paul's Story
Workplace
A few months after getting out of high school I got a job in the city with a company that did very high end photo printing for art and advertising while still playing in a band (The Twiliters) 3 or 4 nights a week. Uncle Sam had other ideas however, and I wound up spending a couple of years seeing the world in the Navy.
I went back to the photo work in late 1968 and by 1971 was running the department. I took a job with another company in 1974 as VP in charge of production and by 1980 was totally fed up with the Madison Avenue grind....Expand for more
I moved to Los Angeles with the idea of slowing down a bit so I could see more of my kids, then 6 & 3, but wound up falling into a similar situation. The big difference was instead of product advertising I was doing photo/composite work for movie studios which, though demanding, I find much more fun.
In 1990, a new business was formed with an artist/retoucher friend that I had worked closely with for years doing digital retouching. We became the biggest studio of this type on the west coast and have expanded into large format printing.
