Paul's Story
In 1979 I moved to the Dallas area and got hired on with a local police department. I worked there for 6 years, and also began working part-time at DFW for Northwest Airlines. I eventually left the PD and went full-time with the airline. The flight benefits came in handy for traveling back to MI to see family.
I recently took an " early out " from Northwest after 25 years in the airline biz. I started in Dallas, came back to Metro for about 10 years, and worked the last 15 years at LAX. I find the winters here in southern California to be a wee bit milder than the ones I remember downriver.
I also worked at a comedy club in Hermosa Beach,CA for 11 years, and left there in 2007. I started out working the door, and for the last 9 years or so I was in charge of the sound booth....announcements, lighting, music, ...Expand for more
recording, etc. A great job, lotta fun, lotta perks, lotta laughs, and I made several lifelong friends along the way......performers as well as co-workers. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
I have 2 children from my first marriage, Corey and AJ. My daughter Corey just turned 29 and my son AJ was 25 in March. They, as well as most of my family, still live in the downriver area.
Retirement is still new to me...April 2nd...and for now it just feels like I'm on an extended vacation. No complaints from me, though !!
As of May 2010, I am working part-time for the Lake Elsinore ( CA ) Storm minor league baseball team. I am an usher and a back-up camera operator, and I'm really enjoying it. The stadium is only about 15 minutes from home and it gets me out of the house a few nights a week, so all is good.
