Paul's Story
I met my beautiful wife in 1970 when I was hitch-hiking across the U.S. and stopped in the little town of Trinidad Colorado for a few weeks. I ended up living there for two years, working as a coal miner, railroad brakeman and finally as a V.I.S.T.A. volunteer working with at-risk young people. After dating on and off for several years Chris and I got married in 1973.
We moved to San Diego in the late 70’s and then to the Bay Area in 1981. We finished our undergraduate degrees and then began working for Silicon Valley high tech companies. My career was spent as a Quality Systems Manager in the Biotech and Medical Device ...Expand for more
industries.
As we approached retirement age, we began looking for a more laid-back place to live. Having been to Austin, Texas about 20 years earlier, we focused on the area between San Antonio and Austin. We decided on the “small” town of New Braunfels and moved there in September of 2012. I worked for another 4 years as a Quality Systems Consultant in the Medical Device arena before retiring in July of 2016.
Once we settled into our life in New Braunfels, we were surprised by a desire to return to our Catholic faith after 43 years. It was quite unexpected because at one point in my life, I didn’t even believe in God.
