Paul's Story
Life
Both kids have finished college and or their Masters so the National Bank of Mom & Dad is closing its doors. Thank the Lord.
We moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in fall of '05 due to a change in Pam's career. She joined the Mayo Clinic as Director of Transplants and Infectious Diseases. It is a similar position to her work at Tulane University Medical Center.
So far, I do not like being retired. Cactus and sand do not require a lot of gardening skills.
Workplace
Okay, retirement in a place where the Sun shines for 320 plus days a year has its challenges. No grass to cut (hey, it's a desert!), cactus require no pruning and very little water, and washing the car is no longer a weekly event.

as she leaves for a 7 am meeting at the Mayo Clinic Hospital. And I do all the cooking - have for years. Darned good at it, too.
When I need a touch of winter, I can drive 2 hours north and be above 7000 feet with bumper deep snow, pine trees, and elk. That's also where historic Rt 66 is.... and Winslow, Arizona. You know, "Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona; such a fine sight to see...."
One last cool fact: the same US RT 60 that runs through Huntington and Barboursville runs through Mesa and Phoenix, AZ on its trip west. I swear if you put your ear to that pavement, you can hear the fans at MU cheering. Or the ghost of the past ordering a hot dog, chips, and a Pepsi at the Pirates Corner!!
You can also get your head squashed by car, too.
