Paul's Story
.Tischa and I have been married over 56 years and counting. I grew up in Barstow, California, and Tischa in Germany and France (from a Military/intelligence service family.) Our senior year in High School was her first full year in a U.S. School. We married the first year we went to college. I was drafted and flew Medevac Helicopters in Vietnam. (Our son was born while I was in Vietnam.)
I went to work for the Goldstone Tracking Station in the California desert when I came home, and we went back to college. I was transferred to Pasadena (Ford Aerospace-Caltech-NASA) and worked seven years in the Space Program. Ford Aerospace paid for my Master's program. I worked for Syntex Corp in acquisitions, and later became President of Telecredit Inc. and took the company public when I was 31.
The company was then sold to Equifax. Tischa and I began a private Credit card Processing company (the first in the U.S.) while I was with Telecredit. When Telecredit was sold to Equifax, we (in our Private company) added Check processing to our services (Crosscheck Inc.) and began to compete with Equifax/Telecredit. When we sold our interest in this company, our combined Rohnert Park, California executive and computer center, had 450 employees, with over 10K across the U.S. and Canada.
While building our businesses, we also started “The Green Sheet” designed for the financial sector. A magazine company, which produced a 128-page magazine every two weeks. (Our Printing company eventually had an online and print readership of more than 20K readers (Banks, Equipment Manufacturers, Credit Card companies, and their employees.) We...Expand for more
also published Rodsandwheels Magazine (which we owned) and published some books for Pepperdine University and others, some of which I wrote.
I resigned as President of our combined Financial Service companies following a stroke in 1999. Tischa continued for one more year as I recovered from Open Heart Surgery (Turned out to be a congenital disability and not a lifestyle issue.)
In January 2000, we sold all our business interests, except for our Publishing Company. (Our daughter took the helm of that venture.) Officially we retired at 52; however, not until our daughter was ready to do something different (she had worked in the company for over 20 years by then) did we sell our Publishing Company (2014.)
In 2000, feeling well and energized and ready to get going again, Tischa and I hit the road traveling the world. We traveled nearly full time for more than a decade, spending a great deal of time in 144 countries (to-date.) While we both enjoyed our working years, being fortunate enough to travel as we have was amazing.
As we moved into our late 60s, Tischa had heart trouble that required surgery, and we began to slow down a bit. Tischa is well now, and we are in our early 70s and have a lot more that we want to do.
We just sold our Primary home in the Bay Area (Petaluma), and we bought land in the Mountain community of Burney Falls, 70 miles North East of Redding, California. We purchased five acres and built a retirement home in the mountains.
We have spent our entire lives working and traveling together. We have two children, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. And yes, we are blessed
