Paul's Story
I have two great kids, Natalie (34) and Paul II (31), he and his wife have given me two beautiful grand daughters, Stephanie is 5, and Savannah is 2., and a baby boy expected in March 12. When my son told me of their plans to name my new grand daughter Savannah, I asked him if that meant I'd need to change MY name to BillieBob or Zeke or something like that. The name has grown on me just like the beautiful ittle girl naturally has. I'm like a little kid in a candy store with my grandbabies. I assume I'm like most grand parents, who love the living daylights out of our little stinkers. I retired from the Chicago Police Dept. after 36 years. I was divorced after 31 years of marriage to another Lake View alum. After the divorce and retirement, I bought a small house in Huntley. As much as I'll always be a city boy and LOVE the city, I've always had a yearning for some country air and open spaces. After a year in my new home and adopted town, I met a very nice lady and we dated for over two...Expand for more
years. That came to a mutual friendly end. Seems I've gotten used to doing my own thing. Picking up, coming and going when I please. That might sound selfish - but, I'm thankful that I've realized this about myself. At this time, I'm not seeing anyone and, I'm very much O.K. with that. Life is a bit less complicated that way. I've thought often about Lake View and old friends/classmates and teachers. I realized long ago that those 'kids' were some of the most wonderful people I would ever have in my life. I still see some of the guys, and that's always such a special pleasure. I stay in contact with some classmates via e-mail, and that too is rewarding. So, no, Paul Heyden, a.k.a., 'the lunatic' is NOT institutionalized (they haven't captured me yet), but rather enjoying his Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, fishing, golfing and the single life. Bless all my old friends, classmates, teachers and the kids that just said hello in the halls, each of you holds a special place in my heart. Paul
