Paul's Story

Aloha, after high school I went to college and worked for the Federal Government and the City of San Diego. I got married to a young lady from Castle Park High (Class of 69') Tina Gutierrez and had one son named Sean. We've been married for 54 years and we also owned Aloha Ranch Horse & Rider Training Facility in the East County, while my wife worked for the U.S. Government and I worked for the City of San Diego. We have three grandchildren Kiana, Eva, and Ozzy. We also raced off-road in Mexico for many years with our families and friends in the Baja 500 and Baja 1000, driving a Class 5-1600 Baja Bug, Challenger VW Buggy, Class-7 Truck, and pit crew for Hawaii's Alan Pflueger Racing Team (Trophy Truck). We are also very active in the Pacific Islander Community working with the Pacific Islander Festival, Hui 'O Hawai'i, and Son's and Daughter's of Guam Club. My times at Morse High School were the best and the friends I made were even better. Each one of you touched my life and a special thanks to Sherry Naylor, Sandy Duest, Peggy Cabrera, Robert Ito, Richard Nichols, Johnny Lovato, Joe Rael, Monroe Nash, Max Razo, David Bates, Felix Tuyay, Gary Lynch, The Aldermen Social Club, Original Skyline Piru Crew, the Morse Football guys, my old Morse Surf Crew, Mike Settles, Anna Banuelos, Sherry Mann, and all the ladies I was friends with. And for the record, I had a bi...Expand for more
g crush on Sherry Naylor who was there for me when I needed that special friendship during a tough time when we both broke up with our first loves. I also loved her pink Ford Mustang and her special personality that was so loving and upbeat. Hey Ricky, you blew it bro!! Sherry was one of the finest girls at Morse High School to me and lots of other guys. I would like to send my "aloha" to everyone back at Morse and Kahuku High Schools in the 60's. At the time we didn't realize how amazing those times were because we were living the moment. I bet each and everyone of you wished you could go back and change so many things in your lives. I also went to Kahuku High School in O’ahu with my cousin Tommy Manzano in 1966 for less than a year. That’s when Hawai’i was truly Hawai’i. We both got sent there because we got in trouble with the law, and our parents sent us there. What a blessing! We grew up in a very special time and went to a very special high school in San Diego and Hawai’i. It was an honor knowing all of you at Morse High School and Kahuku High School. Note: To all those that gave me joy back in high school, thank you so much! And to all my surfing buddies, I bet you wish you had back all those amazing oldie 60’s longboards. Our times surfing San Onofre, North County, Pacific Beach, and Hawai’i we’re beyond amazing. Text me (619) 632-8171
