04. My family joined me periodically when school schedules allowed. My family preferred, however, to maintain their home-base in Reno. I joined them there when I could. I spent over 200 days a year traveling and living in our casinosÂ
* The increased competition from Indian casinos (who do not pay any taxes to their statesÂ
versus the major tax burdens that we non-Indian operations faced) finally became excessive. So my partners and I decided to sell our business and go our separate waysÂ
* We completed the sale of our gaming and non-gaming business operations in 2005.
* I retired in 2005 to spend time with my family and to rebuild a personal lifeÂ
Additional Personal Information
* Katie and I live in the hills overlooking Reno, NevadaÂ
* My daughters reside in Las Vegas. Jennifer is married to a wonderful young man. Gretchen continues to enjoy the single life. Neither has childrenÂ
* We seldom travel these daysÂ
primarily due to the fact that we went darn near everywhere in this world during my working yearsÂ
and we are tired of airports, airplanes and hotel rooms (hmmm! Wonder why ??)Â
.
* We enjoy spending time with our old and new friends, dining out (often) and hanging out in our peaceful home with our cat and two little YorkiesÂ
* Katie played French horn in several orchestras here in the northern Nevada area. She reduced her active participation, however, after she experienced a heart-attack and open heart surgery in 2002. She continues to play old hymns (my favorites) and classical music on her Yamaha grand pianoÂ
* Katie remains very active in her music world though. She is involved in The SAI music sorority here at the University of Nevada, as well as in other musical organizationsÂ
* I am a full-time stock market speculator these daysÂ
.and enjoy fishing, photography and exploring the west on my motorcycleÂ
* We love Reno, our mountains and the westÂ
* Life has been exciting and good to us.
