Paul's Story
Life
Married to my high school sweetheart (class of 73 January) for 28 years now. We dated for 6 years and got married 1 year after college for me. Cass Tech in Detroit for high school, Massachussetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA for college. Coop student at GE Research in Schenectady, NY where I worked on the first breast scanner, automatic detection of computer speeds on dial up telephone lines, filters for camcorder imaging chips. A year at GE Aerospace in Utica, NY working on those fancy bombs that got dropped down chimneys in 1990 time frame in the mideast. Then went to GE Medical in Waukesha, WI for a couple of years to work on cardiac care equipment and things. Then went to Eaton/Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee (didn't have to move) and worked on time of use metering for electricity into houses for a year, then went into research for a few years and worked on everything from factory autoamtion equipment, to high speed vision processing for inspection, semiconductor processing equipment and airplane radar systems and traffic control...Expand for more
systems. After about 8 years, went over to Kalamazoo, MI to work on automated mechanical transmissions, anti-lock brakes and tire pressure control systems, and, oh yeah, radar for trucks. Spent a total of 14.5 years at Eaton. In 1994, one of Eaton's customers, Freightliner, hired me to work on even more electronics for trucks. Freightliner is part of DaimlerChrysler, so now I get to also work on Mercedes-Benz trucks in Stuttgart, Germany and Mitsubishi-FUSO trucks in Tokyo, Japan. Don't think it all sounds so good--middle of the night conference calls and video conferences, three times the work and bosses all over the world that can get upset that you are not delivering what they want.
2 grown children now. Daughter living in Portland and single. Son up in Seattle, WA and got married in July, 2005.
Still playing occassional tennis. Squash is hard to come by out here. Picked up golf about 5 years ago and working on that now. Sometimes play a harmonica and an indian style flute for relaxation. Lot's of computers in the house, of course.
