Paul's Story
College
I finally finished up my study in Dec 2005 and I now have 2 bachelor degrees one in Marketing and the other in International Business both from the University of South Australia in Adelaide, South Australia.
I really hated going back to school and I'm so glad that its all over! But to be realistic I'll probably have to go back for a masters eventually, CRAP! Its the only way to make more money anywhere, isn't it?
I think I'm going to be staying here awhile now. I've already been here like 5 years now, but I have a pretty good job now, so I might as well see what is going to happen with that!
Workplace
I am a mechanic by trade from training gained in the US Army. I despise it, as IÂm sure most of you can relate to hating your jobs, eh?
It has been a tough go trying to find work down unda but I finally landed a good job. I'm a production planner for a military contractor. I can't seem to escape it, but it pays well!
There are always jobs opening internally, so I should be able to land something that will pay more and give me the career path that I want, management. ...Expand for more
Yeah, I'm getting a late start, but I've had a good run so far.
Military
I entered into boot camp in Oct of 90 and upon finishing went to the Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic School. At that point I was only in the National Guard. I deiced that I wanted more than just a life in the Ville, so I went on active duty and was promptly shipped out for German, where I spent the next 6 years. It was probably the most influential part of my life thus far.
After spending all that time in Europe I just didn'Ât want to leave, but the Army, as they usually did had the final say on the matter. They shipped me out for Fort Carson Colorado in 1997. It didnÂ't take long for me to get my fill of people on power trips, regulations actually being enforced and whiney 18 years brats that could get away with murder, so I exited the military in 1999.
I stayed in Colorado until 2002. I had the crazy idea of heading down to Australia to study and that is where I am currently on Uncle SamÂs coat tails. Not bad, I serve a few years in the military then have the government pay for everything down unda!
