Paul's Story

I went to Lewis & Clark undergrad and University of Oregon law school, then moved off to San Francisco for a few years of adventure. I retired in 2018 after 44 years practicing law in San Francisco, building a top firm, living in Piedmont. I married and have three great sons, who are all married and three granddaughters. My legal work primarily was for Underwriters at Lloyd's, London, so I spent a ...Expand for more
lot of time in London and built many good friendships there. My earlier work was as lead defense counsel for most of the major US ski resorts for 25 years through a Lloyd's program, and I moved into pollution coverage litigation and class actions in my later years. We love travel to Hawaii and Europe and have spent much of our summers for 35 years in Brockway on North Lake Tahoe. Life has been good.

Early November is my favorite time at Lake Tahoe, after the summer crowds have gone and before the ski season begins. You can visit the best restaurants. No traffic. The days are cool, clear and crisp. It is quiet, beaut

Finally! There is someone in the family who thinks my jokes are funny. (but it might be gas) This is Ana, granddaughter 3.
Denouement Tahoe. My heaven.
There is particular racial irony in Trump' "caravan invasion" rhetoric for those of us who grew up in Oregon. Many of our ancestors came to Oregon in identical cross-country caravans for similar reasons, the sole differenc

This afternoon with nobody around. My heaven.
Saying goodbye to an old friend of 31 years today--the giant pine in the middle of the courtyard at Tahoe, as the first step toward a major remodel. Will miss the tree, but not cleaning up the six garbage bags of pine need
So granddaughters Emily and Kaitlin went to work with their dad and succeeded in taking over the Morning Show. Look out Sacramento!
Literally chilling in the brief night of total eclipse at my sister's in Silverton. As stunning as predicted. Snapped this pic. Download and enlarge to see craters on the moon. One of the most spectacular sights ever.
Higher resolution of the eclipse in Silverton. Interesting coloring and craters. Though dont know if it will post at high resolution
