it's hard to tell my story without acknowledging my drinking was out of control by my junior year at Wagner. I did manage to graduate despite a serious auto accident in my junior year which resulted in some issues which would dog me for 25+ years. I did do well in insurance for 3 years, but drank myself out of a good job in Chicago in 1970. I spent the next 14 years or so on the streets of Chicago, mostly driving a cab. I ended up in a VA hospital in July of 1984 and took my last drink July 26th of that year. I went back to school at the U of Minnesota in 1988 and got my Licensed Alcohol and Drug Certification in 1991. I have been in the Substance Abuse field ever since working in adolescent and than adult in patient settings from 1990 to 1999. I completed my Master's in Counseling and Psychological Services in 1997 and began working with clients that had both chemical and mental health problems at that time.
