Paul's Story

Hi to all my old high school friends. Can you believe its been 30 years since we graduated from GHSS. It was difficult to keep in touch with many of you after high school, as post secondary schooling, the passage of time, marriage, and kids, were all valid reasons for losing touch. After high school I really didn't know what I wanted to study except that I wanted to go to university. I was accepted to the general Arts & Science program at UofT (St. George campus). Unfortunately, Arts & Science was too broad, so I applied to the Faculty of Engineering the following year. What kept me sane throughout my universtiy years was my faith in God. I drew my strength from knowing God loves us and that he has a purpose for each of our lives. I graduated from UofT with an Industrial Engineering degree in 1985. My first job was with WorkWear Corporation. Two years later I went to work for Fo...Expand for more
rd Motors in Oakville. In 1990 I met Jean to whom I married in 1991. We bought our first home in Thornhill. I decided to find employment closer to home, so I changed jobs and went to work for Chrysler Canada in Brampton. We have two beautiful children (son & daughter who are in Grades 12 and 10 respectively). I was at Chrysler for about 18 years until I was laid off in March 2008 due to downsizing & restructuring. It was the first time I've been unemployed in my working career. It feels really strange to wake up and not be at work. The job market went into a recession and it wasn't until Mar 2010 that I was able to find a job. My new employer is Apotex Inc. It's a new industry for me and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. I will miss my sleeping in days but I won't miss the whole job searching experience. That's a short summary of my life since graduating from GHSS.
