Paul's Story

After graduation from Wakefield, I worked for three years and then attended Appalachian State University (ASU) and graduated in 1970. While at ASU, I joined the USMC Platoon Leader's Class program and went to Officer Candidate School at Quantico, VA during the summer between school years. Upon graduation I was commissioned a 2nd Lt. and went to Navy flight school eventually becoming a USMC helicopter pilot. I stayed in the reserves and retired as a colonel. I completed 6 years active duty and tried my hand in the private sector for four years before joining the FBI in 1979. I spent 22 years in the FBI, 16 in the Philadelphia Field Division working organized crime and drugs and then 6 years at Quantico, VA with the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group. I retired from the FBI in 2001 and immediately went to work for ATF at ATFHQ in Washington, D.C. And, after 23 years I am going to retire from ATF on 2 June 2024. Been doing this long enough. is 33 and graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point in 2013. Frank completed his 5 years in the Army and works for the Army as a civilian finance officer. He is now 6'4", 395 pounds. His personal best lifts are 1008 pounds squat with a practice bar, 662 bench press and 950 dead lift. Michael is 31 and lives in NJ and works for as a scheduler for a construction company. I have another daughter, Linda that lives in Tampa, FL and is a successful mortgage broker specializing in native American programs. I am married and currently reside in Midlothian, VA outside Richmond. Interestingly my wife Sandy is a graduate of W&L (class of 73). She is a graduate of UVA and the University of Richmond law school. She is the senior partner in her Richmond, VA law firm. I enjoy working on old cars and have a 1972 Buick GS 455 convertible and just added a 1992 Mustang LX 5.0 Summer Edition convertible. All original car with just 25,600 miles since new. I find it amazing as I look through our yearbook how many of my classmates I remember and how those days seem like yesterday.
