Life
My Pets
I adopted a Rottweiler/Doberman mix in November 2014 named Hope. Hope was two years old when she was taken from an abusive owner who left her tied up outside 24/7 and used as part of a puppy mill. Hope weighed 42 lbs. at that time and within a month of being rescued in 2012 Hope had gained ten lbs. To this day Hope is scared of loud sounds, paper and plastic bags, brooms and anything being held above her. Today Hope weighs in at 74 lbs. and loves chasing lizards. In 2017 Bella Jean, a seven year old Labrador/Shar Pei mix joined Hope. Bella Jean is laid back, gentle and very protective. Hope and Bella Jean get jealous of one another but get along very well. On May 1, 2021, Bella Jean passed away from acute renal failure at the age of 11. In mid-July (2021) Chloe, a three year old German shepherd mix joined the family. Chloe was picked up as a stray but didn't have a chip and was never claimed. Chloe was fully trained and wants very badly to chase the deer in the neighborhood.
My Job
I retired from The U. S. Army Field Band as the ...Expand for more
Support Group & Auditions NCOIC on November 1, 2010, with over 25 years of service. Six months later I started law school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Today, I am an attorney in Ormond Beach, Florida, specializing in estate planning, guardianship and probate. I am a solo practitioner and work from home. I go to my clients (rather than them coming to me).
College
I applied to Northwestern University and Florida State (to appease my parents). I went to NU and never looked back, though I almost froze to death my first winter in Evanston, Illinois. I was very fortunate to attend NU and their financial aid is second to none; my senior year I had a $20,000 grant from the university as part of my aid package. I was very fortunate to graduate with only $7,000 in student loans . . . which the United States Army paid for three years of service.
While on active duty I earned a MBA from Loyola University Maryland IN 1999. Thankfully the Army provided tuition assistance for my masters degree. While it did not pay all of the tuition it did cover over half.
