Paula's Story

Life Well 20 years has past and there isn't enough room here to put it all. So, I will recap what I can. Re-married to my childhood friend Harold Norris and to bad he wasn't first, because he would have been the only one. We have 6 boys together,Christopher 25,John 24,Brian 22,Michael 20, Jesse 19 and Christopher 15. The oldest Christopher, graduated May 2003,he is married to a great person,Lydia, July 2005 will be 6 years and they have a son, named Christopher, that turns 4 in August.I am officially "Mimi"!!! Chris is in the U.S. Air Force and is currently stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK.He will be getting out this September and moving back to Fort Worth. John, graduated May 2004 and in Oct. 2004 he went in the U.S.Army, he is married to Robin, we love her. He was stationed in Germany, but was sent 2 IRAQ, again!!! We hope he will come home in July, but his 15 months are not up till Oct. Then he will return to Germany till May of 2010, after that we are not sure where he will go. We are praying for Fort Hood!!! He has been far away for almost 5 years and it would be really nice if he were a little closer to the family. Brian graduated May 28,2005, He works and has a used car business. Dating, but hasn't found the right 1 yet. I hope he decides 2 go 2 college, but in his own time and when he is ready, he is still young!!! Michael graduated in 2008. He has a fiancee', Tamara, we love her too!! They plan on getting married on 10-10-10!!! Really cool date!!! He wants to go to college for criminal justice in the Fall and be a Fort Worth police officer. Tamara will start beauty school at the end of this month, hopefully.Jesse also graduated in 2008. He is dating. He goes to DeVry in Irving. He really seems to like it. He wants to create games. So this is the right school for him. I say whatever keeps them motivated,DREAMS> We all had them when we were young!!!! And last but not least, Christopher is in the 8th grade and will be our big high school jock next year. After Christopher graduates, or as soon as we can!!! Harold and I are planning to move to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, it is about 60 miles from Cancun. We are in the process of buying land now and we will be building a house soon, so we will have a place paid for when we get there. I will be opening a hair salon, either in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, maybe both, all depends on the traffic and commute time each day. I plan to keep my hair salon in River Oaks, I will be alternating between here and there every other month for a while to see how things are working out, before I make the big plunge and close my shop here. We love to travel and that part of Mexico is so beautiful. It only takes 2 and a half hours by airplane to get there. Plus I am sure everyone in my family will find all kind of excuses to come see me, I just haven't told them yet that they have to serve me breakfast in bed,do all the cooking and cleaning when they come and stay with us. When they find all this out I am sure it will shorten their stay. My husband, Harold, loves Mexico and to travel just as much as I do and that is one of the reasons we get along so well, plus the fact that he is a real great person and he is always making sure that I don't need anything. I am thankful for him everyday. I have accomplished a lot more at this point in my life than I thought. I ...Expand for more
have a great husband and great kids. Knowing that they are happy and healthy is all that really matters. I can honestly say I am happy and I wouldn't change a thing even if I could. I hope everyone at our 30th Reunion will be doing well and all are happy!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TILL THEN TO SEE EVERYONE!!!!!!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!!!!!! CLASS OF 85 WAS AND STILL IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! School There were two things that I liked about high school. First, that people would actually come into the Cosmetology dept. and let us practice on them, very brave souls. Second, Metal Shop, I liked that class because there was always a lot of different things to do and learn. I took three years of Metal Shop, two years were offered and the third year was by special permission.I thought it was challenging and was told only guys could take it. I always figured that girls could take that class too and I was right. Taking Metal Shop taught me that I could do a lot of things myself. I learned to plan out what I needed to before I started projects. A good game plan saves time and money, it also keeps you from making mistakes. Some things stick with you when you become an adult and some things don't. These are the things I remember and use in everyday life. PLAN, EXECUTE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST IN ALL THAT YOU DO IN LIFE !!!!!! Plus Mr. Sperry was and is a GREAT teacher, and I still have the opportunity 2 still see. He comes by 4 an occasional trim now and then. He is also a great water skier. He has won the Mens Nationals 2 times!!!! Workplace I have been doing hair for 27 years. Two years in school and twenty-five years in the shop. I have met a lot of people and made a lot of life long friends. I love going to hair shows all over the world. I try to go to all that I can. I will use any excuse to travel and going to a hair show is a very good one. The bonus is, you can take it off your taxes, it is a business expense. I hope in the very near future to open a hair salon either in Playa Del Carmen or Cancun, Mexico, or both. The traffic and commute time will determine where. We will be living in Playa Del Carmen. Driving back to Cancun takes at least an hour one way and the traffic is pretty solid both ways, all day. They are building a new highway between the two towns so that will probably make things a lot better in the future. For the first couple of years I will be flying back and forth every other month and will do hair in both places. I need to make sure what I really want to do before I completely move there and close the shop that I have here in River Oaks. The weather there is always sunny and I can't think of a better place to finish out my last years of working. The great thing, I hope is that I will already be there and won't be too old or tired to move there. We will be keeping our house in Parker County, Texas. So we will have a place to stay when we come home for visits. Now we go to Mexico to visit and live here. When we live in Mexico we will come here and visit. Sounds great to me, either way. Both places don't have much snow or cold, either of which I can do without!!!!!!!!!! THE SUN IS A GREAT THING!!!!!!!!!! Telling Mrs. Gallman that there was an RAGING IN FERNO in the hall. Because she had a rule about going to your locker during class. It better be on FIRE!!!! She laughed so HARD she just waved me on!!!!
