Paula's Story
Life
After I graduated from Bartlett I went to a Christian school, Asbury College, in Wilmore, Kentucky. There I met my wonderful husband, Dave Coke, married him in 1969 and continued my education, had my first child and graduated (in that order). The same year that I graduated from college Dave graduated from seminary. We lived in Thomasville GA for 2 years both teaching at a school for delinquent girls. Our second son was born there. We then moved to Dixon, IL where my husband grew up but not for long. Newark, N.J. was our next location working with ghetto children. Our daughter was born while we were there. Finally we were ready to settle down and raise our family. We relocated in 1979 to Rockford, IL where we had our third son and raised our children. We have been here for 26 years!
While in N.J. my husband worked in the business world and loves his job as Director of Manufacturing. He still preaches any chance that he gets and is a very outspoken guy when it comes to his Lord Jesus. I wouldn't have it any othe...Expand for more
r way! About 10 years ago I found that I had a gift to teach children reading and I love it. It's so funny to write your life in two paragraphs when there's so much in between.
Two of my children were born with cystic fibrosis. They were perfectly normal and had few problems. Most doctors couldn't believe they had CF. But our beautiful daughter, Johannah, after graduating from college and a couple of hard years, went to be with her Jesus in June of 2001. Believe me friends; Jesus is real because I can't begin to imagine losing a child without Him by my side!
Of course I have to tell you about my four beautiful grandchildren. They live in Wasilla, Alaska so this makes for many trips to that beautiful state. My oldest grandson just received his first snow board and is on the slopes (he's 8).
My son Jon is 25 and also has CF. He's in fairly good health and has two jobs but keep him in your prayers. Well if anyone is still reading this? It's probably more than you really wanted to know! Thanks for reading!!
