Paula's Story
Wow, where do I even start. 20 years has come and gone in no time. After I graduated from SRVHS, I went to DVC and then started working for a law firm in Walnut Creek. I've been with my current law firm as a Legal Secretary for the past 13 years. I guess you can say that I haven't ventured too far. I've been with my husband for 14 years now (married 11 years) with 3 beautiful step children (18 year old girl, 17 year old boy, 15 year old boy) and of course we had to add two more kids to the bunch (9 year old boy and 6 year old girl). We've been living in Pleasant Hill for the past 11 years.
In March of 2003, my step son (11 at the time), son (3 at the time) and daughter (just over 1) and I were involved in a horrific car accident on highway 80 in Vacaville. We were driving along in the fast lane when a car with two women in it decided to fly over the oleanders from the other side of the freeway and land on top of my car (something like the Dukes of Hazzard). We didn't even have time to react. As the roof of my car (Jeep Cherokee) collapsed, I reached over to protect my step son. and a second car hit the corner of my car, causing my car to flip in the air once from front to back. As we landed, we were hit a third time head on, which caused my car to ...Expand for more
roll over 1000 feet down the freeway until it came to a rest up against an overpass guardrail. Believe it or not, I was the only one with the injuries - only cuts and bruises. Nothing broken and our lives still in tact. I guess it wasn't our time to go.
I have been playing co-ed softball for the past 18 years and I love it. I love to dance (hmmm...I guess some things never change), snow ski, hike, run, bike, get together with my friends for drinks, and just live and love life each day as it comes.
I've only kept in contact with a few people from our class. I see Sonya every year (of course we were always together back in the days) and Julie
Rhynard, who now lives in New York. Unfortunately, I don't get to see her but we correspond all the time.
When I travel, I enjoy anywhere with a beach and a sunset. We took a trip to the Bahamas last year. If you've never gone, that is a place you must check out. The people are extremely friendly and the beaches are absolutely breath taking. We absolutely loved it.
Well, I can't wait to see you all at the reunion. I'm wondering if I should bring my ID, as I still get carded, can you believe it? I guess it's because I refuse to grow up. I still feel like I'm 18!
Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
