Paula's Story
After kicking around & trying different things (including marriage & go nowhere jobs) for 4 years after graduation, I joined the Air Force. Had a hard time committing to the 4 years, but ended up staying for 20 years. That was the smartest thing I have ever done! Was in Intelligence for 15 years, Automated Intelligence Systems Analyst (computers) 3 years, then Host Organization System Manager (again computers) 2 years.
Husband died right before I retired, but continued with retirement plans-came back to Oregon, attended Western Business College for front office medical assistant. After 3 1/2 years working, had to medically retire due to job related injury.
Went back to school & earned AAS in Landscape & focused on Landscape Design. Bought 9 1/2 acres 10 miles outside of Estacada. It was the perfect place, a dream come true. When the neighbor from hell bought property adjoining mine, a legal fight has been going now for several years.
Plans changed-gave up any idea of starting landscape design business, & after being assaulted on my property (related to legal mess), I've been sort of in limbo, waiting for the legal mess to finish. Not sure what direc...Expand for more
tion life will take me, but I have temporarily moved to a RV park for personal safety reasons. I have a Parson Russell Terrier (a long-legged Jack Russell renamed by the dog world-looks like Eddie on Frasier TV show) that is my service dog & is a real sweetheart & goes with me everywhere. He is the most laid-back Jack anyone has ever seen!! He's a couch potato, bed bug, lap sitter, & loves to cuddle. Most definately a people dog, happy all the time, loves to play. While I don't show or have him compete, we go to the JRT Fun Days and Tristate JRT activities. He & I have a ton of fun, & is a nice break for us.
Plans changed again and I moved to Stockton, CA. I have relatives in the area, which is nice. Sold my properry in Estacada and bought an older house. I seem to spend a lot of time (and $) on it. Still have my dog and he still goes with me everywhere. I seem to spend a lot of time going to the local VA clinic, the specialty clinics in Livermore, and the hospital in Palo Alto. My health isn't all that bad, it just takes time and perseverance to work thru the system. I've done a little traveling and plan on doing more as time and $ allow. I do miss Oregon.
