Pauletta's Story
It's hard to believe it is already May of 2011. Where does the time go. I have been retired for 2 years now and last year I did buy two horses. Rebel's Lady Gen, a Tennessee Walking Horse Mare for DJ and a Spotted Saddle Horse Gelding for me named Lad. We also decided in December of 2009 to build a new house here in Shiner. The foundation was poured in December of 2010, yes it took a whole year from working with the architect to actually selecting a builder and getting the project going. Things are moving along with a projected completion date of end of July. I will be so glad to have it completed and move in. I am almost finished with all of the interior design and selections of materials, so hopefully my life will get back to normal in August. Just in time for the Texas heat and non prime horse back riding season. Oh well. Heading back to New Brighton June 10th and hope to see some of you classmates on the visit. Till then take care.

DJ Darilek, from Shiner, Texas. I spent 28 years working in Human Resources at Baker Hughes, an oil field service company. Baker Hughes afforded me many opportunities to travel the world to some great places and to some not so great places. After a very rewarding career, DJ gave me the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream of horse ownership. I retired in February 2009 and have been splitting my time between our house in Houston and our country place in Shiner. Some unplanned life events have since occurred causing me to postpose my horse purchase for a few months and right now it is too darn hot in Texas to ride anyway.
I have a great step-son, whom I raised from age 6. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is living and working in Dallas as an investment banker. DJ and I have been very blessed.
We have now sold our Houston home and we will be making our Shiner home our permanent residence. I am also back in the Horse market and looking at opportunities. We have once again been blessed.
