Paulette's Story
Life
After graduation from WHS, I attended and completed my degree in Education at Southwestern. Immediately after college I began teaching school in Seiling, OK. (Oh, I married a guy from Seiling, so at the time, that worked out pretty swell) After the marriage ended, I started my career with the Department of Human Services, as a Rec Therapist at Children's Hospital in OKC. That led to a position at the Juvenile treatment Center in Tecumseh, to a Child Welfare Investigator in Cleveland County. I continue to work for DHS and my current position is a Case Manager in the Develpomental Disabilities Services Division. I live in Atoka, in Southeastern Oklahoma. Now along the way, I also began my life as a sober person in March of 1984. That led to a career as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and I was also the Juvenile Officer in Canadian County. m very involved in my Church. I play the guitar in the "Praise Band". I used to play in bars, so the experience has really come in handy. My mother Eileen, died from Cancer in 1982, my father Chet died in 1999, also of Cancer. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June of 2001 after returning from a mission trip to the Phillipines. I went through a Mastectomy, and Chemo, and yes, bald is not that beautiful. Among other things. I am a Red Cross Disaster Trainer and Volunteer. I was in OKC on May 3, 1999. I am also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician, and work part time for Atoka County EMS.I have a Yorkie named Bentley and a cat named Tucker. I am single again, and spend most of my time with Church, and friends. My sister Janet and her husband live in Calumet,OK, and her Daughter Kelly lives in OKC. She is also a SW grad,and works for Lockeed-Martin.
