Peggy's Story

OK, so here goes for anyone who gives a hoot. It's good practice at typing and spell check anyway! I went to work right out of H.S trying a bit of this and that for work, no college. My Dad used to say, "Do what you like and like what you do and it won't seem like work." And throughout the years that's what I did and still do. It's like getting paid for my hobbies, not bad! So I juggle a schedule and list of clients doing Elder Care, Gardening, House Cleaning and a home Travel Agency. I got married to a guy from East Northport in 1983. We had our wedding on a boat off Captree Sound, great fun! Moved up to Cold Spring, NY, built our own Log home. I do love to work with tools, being the "tom boy" I was and still am in a way. Bugs, dirt and work don't scare me away. Had my 1st child in 1987, daughter, put an addition on the house, then my son in 1990 and more improvements on house. I kept very busy working on the virgin property making gardens, raising the kids and whatever side work I could fit in. Loved it all. The marriage went sour, although everyone has "their side of the story", my side was that we didn't have enough time together to keep our relationship growing. He worked long hours, built a great career, I was home alone with the kids a lot. Such is life. We split in 2005, divorce is still being dragged through the system. Those Lawyers got to feed their kids too you know as well as buy a second and third car, boat, vacation home, ect! Both my k...Expand for more
ids are in college, my daughter is finishing her last year, my son is on his first. Oh that first year they consider an all expense paid party! What freedom to be away from the parents! LOL I met a wonderful guy in 2006, too good to believe, they just don't make many like him!! I bought another small home to start my life over. It's a fixer-upper, not a problem as I like the work and challenge but wish I were in my 20's again to do it faster! LOL I'm still quite bubbly, outgoing, silly, a wise guy and laugh at life although I've had my share of heartaches just like anyone else. My father past away from lung cancer in 1985, he died in my arms, what a privilege. My sister died of heart complications, only 42 yrs old and my brother died of prostate cancer at only about 46 yrs old. Other siblings from our family of 8 kids are doing well, Mom is still living in C.I. I live for the summers so I can work outside and get into nature, work in gardens, go fishing ect. Being a Travel Agent we'd get our trip in during the winter, my kids were pretty spoiled going to all types of places at a young age. I'm still very artistic and crafty. I go from project to project trying a bit of everything. Having a work shop for my tools and a cabinet for my art supplies is a must! I still keep in touch with my pal Barb, really not anyone else from CIHS, maybe because I moved away from the area. That's about it for now, I see the sun popping through, I'm heading out to work!
