Peggy's Story

Life My husband and I just moved back from our adventures in Alaska (January 2005). I taught Special Education in Kodiak for 1 year. Then we decided to go to a remote fishing village for a year. The following, year I became a school counselor in another village. We came back home to visit family for a while and may go back to the "bush" (village). We adopted a cute little baby girl that makes it all worthwhile. It is good to be back in Texas after all of the moves. Life sure changes after you become a mommy. Take care everyone and I hope life is treating you well. School One of my favorite teachers in high school was Senora Irragori (sp?). She had a way of scrunching her face up and standing up on her toes when she was trying to get her point across in Espanol. I still remember how much she hated it when we chewed gum and tried to roll our "r's". Her zest for teaching did encourage me to learn the language throughout college and pursue oth...Expand for more
er language. I enjoyed Ms. Bendelly's (sp?)kindness and all of my English and Journalism teachers. And Michelle, if you are out there anywhere- I still remember how you used to throw up to get out of Physical Science class. Yuck! I'm sure the smell of the nasty frogs we dissected didn't help. And what was the deal with the "KIlLER FROGS" thing? Thanks for making those years tolerable everyone. Workplace I worked as a waitress while in college, then became a special education aide. When I started my Masters in Educational Psychology I decided to look into teaching. After finishing my MA I became certified in teaching and school counseling. Currently, I am getting Licensure as a Professional Counselor. That will be a long road of internship hours. It will be interesting. At this moment, I am taking a few months off to watch my baby take her first steps and say her first words..."MAMA","DADDA","DOG","DUCK". This is the best job of them all!
