Peggy's Story

Life seems to go in circles, sometimes. I ended up marrying in 1984, moving to San Francisco, then Norfolk, VA, then to Kenosha, WI, back to VA, then to Millington, TN, and finally back to Kenosha. My husband, Randy, (a 1974 grad from Moline) was in the Navy Band for almost 22 years after graduating with a BME from Illinois State. He now works at a Walgreens in Kenosha as head of the photo department. We have 3 girls, all of which played in the band in school. Stacy graduated in 2008 with a BS degree in Music Education (double majoring on Trombone and Piano) in both Instrumental and Choir. She is also working as a Church Organist at 2 churches, one of which was her first job in High School. April is back working for a Dry Cleaners that she worked at in high school, after graduating with a BA in Music (clarinet emphasis, though she also played in a Steel Band) and a minor in Philosophy. Barb has worked every summer at Six Flags Great America (8 summers now) since she was 15 and just graduated with a BA in French and a Religious Studies minor, so wiill be spending the near future trying to find a full time job as well. Barb played Brass in high school--first trumpet, then Baritone, Tuba as a Junior and Senior, and even a little trombone. Needless to say, all of us think that music is very important. Randy and I met at the Community Band in Bettendorf! I sing in the choir at church, and evey once in a while get out my clarinet (when April isn't using it). I won't play or sing in front of Randy or Stacy--they just are too talented. I am also back to where I started. After graduating from Marycrest College with a Math Major (with Education),...Expand for more
and a Library Science Minor (K-12), I wasn't really sure where life would take me. My first job in High School and College was at the library as a page (now more often called a shelver). I also worked for an inventory service, counting and working a lot with calculators. Even though I didn't get my Masters, I am working in a Library in the Youth Department doing the job I wanted to do way back when. I mostly work with the K-5 grade group, and do a lot of Science Experiments, Crafts, and helping try to work out pretty simple problems the public have with the computers. As usual, I have to keep busy, and I also work at Six Flags in the summers, not out in the park, but with the MONEY. I knew math would come in handy!!!! I have always loved Science Fiction--Star Trek, Stargate, and all the various versions of them--they will always live long in my heart and memory. Mysteries and clue solving, whether on this planet or any other will also be something I am interested in. If you remember me, I was always shy and quiet, until you got to REALLY know me--and now I sometimes seem to try to make up for the lost time then by talking now--and hopefully making other people less uncomfortable about speaking up for themselves. I really am proud of my family, and that is what makes me who I am. I do love Kenosha and Wisconsin, and the change in weather, but June 10th and the high was 57 today? And we need coats? Of course the high was 93 just a couple days ago. I guess that is what you get for living this far north. And I know I like it better than Tennesse where we had 10 days in a row where the low did not get below 90 degrees even at night.
