Peggy's Story

Since I married an Army guy, we were in Tacoma, Germany twice and Ft.Sill, OK. Germany was interesting and we were able to see a lot of it. We were staioned in two different areas at different times. A total of 7 years. Did not care for Ft. Sill. My husband Jim, was an Army cook. He loves to cook! So since he is retired and I still work, he gets to do most of the cooking. We have one son, James who lives in Puyallup, he is living with a nice woman, Jenny. He has 3 kids from a previous marriage. I miss not getting to see them alot. But we try and take them to the beach every year. We all love the beach, esp the Westport area. Every year my parents would take us camping and clam digging to Greys or Rubys beach, or many others on the WA coast. I have had many jobs over the years, as I am sure a lot have had. Many I never thought I would do. I have been a caregiver, nurses aide, in fast food, bar tender, managed a laundromat and now am working as a counter person selling truck parts. Lived not only in the above places but in Sumner and now Sunnyside. Who knew I would get this close again to Yakima? I have had many pets over the years, mainly dogs. We have one dog,Princess(yes she is!) and a cat, a siamese mix, Yang. We enjoy them. I have always been a dog person, and wasn't really into cats until one was given to my son James in grade school. Since then, we have always had a cat or two or three! I have always loved to read. That is one thing my whole family did. My dad collected books and we always had plenty of books around. He had all of the Eagar Rice Burroughs books, and I loved the Tarzan stories. I am a fan of fantasy and Sci fi, whether in books, movies or TV shows. But will read almost anything;mysterys, adventure, One thing I don't care much for is Harliquin books.:( I have many interests, I have pen and tape pals around the states and send and receive alot of postcards around the world.Very interesting meeting new people this way. :) I do alot of sewing and crochetiing. I am active in the local Red Hat group, a bunch of fun women. Jim and I are active in the Am Vets. I am currently President. We do many things w...Expand for more
ith and for them. I love summer, and as I write this, it is winter, we have snow, and I am hoping spring will be coming soon. I enjoy getting out in the yard and working on the flowers. I even enjoy mowing the lawn. Now we live in the country, which suits us fine, we have near neighbours, but not so close you can touch them. I live next too and work for my sister and brother in law, which is great. It is going to be interesting to see what the next few years will bring us. My current age is 55. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be really old. I was so completely wrong and right. Some days I feel like a 105 and others, I am that 12 year old girl, OK, only inside my head. My body says, no your not, that old arthritis just kicks all of our butts, doesnt' it? I am currently working out with my neice, Andrea, who is a personal trainer. She is great! And I am feeling so much better and have lost some weight and inches since she started helping me July 2009. Talking with some customers, we discussed how you use to not trust anyone "over 30" Now we have kids over 30! My son James will be 34 in June! Maybe I shouldn't trust him? LOL As I reread this, I am coming up on my 63rd birthday in March. The last few years have not been that good. I lost my husband Jim in Oct of 2016. Its very hard. We would have been married 41 years in Nov. He would have turned 75 in Dec. What with Thanksgiving and Christmas thrown in there, it was not a good few months. First he went through 5 by passes in 2015, then we found out he had a blood disorder. He went through chemo and lots of blood transfusions. He passed away from Leukima. I miss him very much. The summer of 2015 we lost out last 2 pets in the same month.. My son, James did marry Jenny and is after me to move closer to him. Not sure if I will yet. My job is coming to an end, as my sisters husband is not doing well, so they are retiring and closing shop. They have had it for 37 years. I am so tired of this cold and snow. My furnace has gone out at least 6 times, usally on a weekend, and when the temp is low, remember the minus temps this past winter? I am so ready for summer. .
