Peggy's Story

I've lived in 9 states, meeting my husband,Paul,in Aspen Co. Being a nurse I could always find work no matter where we traveled with Paul's work. The one exception was Idaho (my favorite state ) where I opened a stained glass shop. Hawaii has been our home for the past 30 yrs. Dogs have always been part of our family as unfortunately we were unable to have children. At one time we had 10 dogs after rescuing strays, then being emotionally unable to take them to the humane society. We've spent 8 months in Europe hitchhiking & earning extra $ picking grapes & driving truck from Turkey to the Syrian border. I have been an advocate of peace, kindness & humanity towards all people my entire adult life. Starting in the late 60's I marched in protest of the VietNam conflict(my husband is a VietNam vet, vowing to never again carry a gun after discharge & joining the anti war movement. He has severe PTSD and still has nightmares & drops to the ground on hearing gunshots, back firing & even a balloon popping. I marched in the late 60's & now I'm marching in my late 60's. Peaceful protests all. Women's rights are important to me,there are many, but doesn't mean I'm a believer in all issues. The...Expand for more
environment is my true passion,I've visited every state in this grand country of ours, toured our National parks, camped in pristine forests(including redwoods) canoed in crystal clear streams & rivers, hiked mountain & desert trails & taken in great gulps of unpolluted air. I will do all I can to preserve these awesome lands so future generations can experience them. And now gun violence which has killed so many young people. This does not mean I am against gun ownership, far from it. I want to decrease my carbon footprint & I've been repurposing & Upcycling these few years since retirement. Our lanai was covered with "junk" I could use in my projects. Because we're moving I had to find new homes for it & some of it may have accidently fallen into some of our packing boxes. We believe in helping others & have had many people & even a family living on our property until they could get back on their feet. 45 yrs of nursing, some in the home setting & some in facilities & lastly in an oncology unit has taught me much about humanity for ours & other cultures. We are all the same !!!!! LOVE & LIGHT
