Penny's Story
I've lived in Ione, CA since being widowed in 2003, but make several trips a month to the Bay Area to visit family and friends as well as tend to some rental property in Pleasanton.
Skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho is a favorite pastime and gives me an opportunity to check on investments I have in that area.
Purchased my first motorcycle in 2005.....a Ducati Multistrada. Never thought I'd enjoy riding, but succumbed to the encouragement of my daughter and son-in-law, both avid riders living in Alameda, who bought me a motorcycle-riding course for my Mother's Day gift that year.
Have considered moving back to the Bay Area as my daughter is expecting twin boys.....Finally I'm going to be a Grandma.
Dec 2011. Well, the years fly by. Since my last update my twin grandsons have added an amazing new chapter to my life. They'll be four next April and I spend at least one day a week with them. Such a joy. Still have my home in Ione, but recently purchased a condo in Walnut Creek. Now my weekly excursions to the Bay Area include sleeping in a bed of my own rather than on an air mattress on the floor at Stephanie's home in Alameda. All of a sudden it's 2016. I guess about time for an update. The twins are 8 now and such fun. We just came back from an RV trip to Don Pedro Lake. The kids took their RV and boat and I took my 1 year old RV. A class A Itasca. 35 ft long with 2 bathrooms. What more could a girl want. Haven't been on my Ducati for a couple of years. Still a little timid since I crashed and tore my arm up. Gotta get it out when the weather cools. Hate to ride in the summer heat. Here in Amador County 90 to 100 degrees isn't uncommon in the summer and early fall. Have a ski vacation planned to Sun Valley Idaho in January. Taking the family along. We went last winter and got the twins on skis for the first time. One lesson and they were flying down the slopes. Going to rent a large condo again with room for all of us and the kid's two very large Bernese Mountain dogs. Hope to get to the top of Baldy and find the tree where we scattered Chuck's ashes in 2004. He loved skiing that mountain. Hard to believe he's been gone 13 years. We were together 40 wonderful years. Dating has been great but not inclined to marry again. Anyway who needs a piece of paper at this age.
