Penny's Story
Life
I have been with my husband, Dan, since 1991; we married in 1993. We have two wonderful children, Megan (11) and Jonathon (4)...that is, today, Feb 10, 2006. She is my funny, witty, and compliant child. Jonathon is my loveable, deep-thinking, yet "strong-willed" child. We also have two 3-month old boxer pups, Bruno and Max. Life is great. I'm happy and since I've ran into a few people from highschool recently I thought I should update my info here on classmates.com and see what everyone else is up to. It's neat to see where everyone is these days. Take care, all and God bless.....Penny
School
If I could do it all over again...I'd worry less about popularity and be more interested in the lives of my friends. The teacher that inspired me the most...I've heard it said that Lake Station schools "suck" but I had so many good teachers that helped make me who I am today. The things I remember most...Jason D with Bart Simpson hair, our awesome football team our senior year, and my senior prom.
Workplace
I graduated from nursing school at IU in 1998. I've tried alot of different things to find my "niche"...med/surge at Methodist and cardiac IMCU at St. Mar...Expand for more
y's. I don't really like the hospital scene. I currently work one-two days a week, but get this...I'm employed at four different facilities! I've worked full time at Michiana Behavioral Healthcare in Plymouth for the past 6 years but currently only fill in 2-3 times/month. There, I get to run groups for adults or kids with depression or addictions. I love the counseling aspect of this job (toward the end of nursing school I'd wished I would've pursued a career in social work). I also work every Thursday at Associated Pediatricians inside Porter Hospital in Portage or I will sometimes fill in at the Valpo office on Glendale.. So, if you're in need of a pediatrician, this group is great! I've been employed with both Portage and Lake Station school systems for the past several years as a substitute nurse. I hardly ever get the opportunity to work at the scools ( 2-3 times/year) but I keep hanging on because this is where my heart is. There are alot of needy kids in our community and as the nurse you see alot of them in your office. I get to do counseling, as well as use my medical skills/knowledge when working in the schools. It's pretty awesome. And that's it...
