Penny Kay's Story

Life Life is Good! I'm very blessed. I have been married to Jeff Salisbury who graduated from HHS in 1967 since 1968. We are at a wonderful point in our life and are enjoying the journey. Things have not always been easy for us, both coming from very dysfunctional families. Beginning in 1999, and for the next 4-5 years we were in therapy and both grew immensely from the experience. We are blessed to have our two married children living less than a mile from us with our four grandchildren. Our son, Michael graduated from M.S.U. and owns a small insurance agency in town. He is married to the first person he met at M.S.U. Jill, and they have one son Mitchell who was born in 2000 and a daugher Sarah Kate who was born in 2004. Our daughter, Shelly graduated from Grand Valley State University. and married a Wayland high school sweetheart who is a M.S.U. grad and is an elementary school teacher in Wyoming (MI). Shelly is a stay at home mom and has two children. Auston who was born in 1999 and Maddie who was born in 2001. Shelly volunteers often in her children's school. One of my greatest joys in life is being their Nana. I worked as a food-broker salesperson from 1978-2001. I am slowing my life down so I can enjoy being a Nana but I also work part-time, out of my home selling AFLAC supplementa...Expand for more
l income insurance. It allows me to be in charge of my schedule so I can enjoy my grandchildren in their school years. My husband Jeff has been a high school English teacher at Wayland Union Schools since we moved here in 1985. He graduated from M.S.U. after going to college 12 years part-time and still loves his teaching, but plans to retire in 2009. He teaches Journalism, Desk-top Publishing, Yearbook, Newspaper, Literary magazine and is adviser to SADD. Our family is the most important thing in our lives. We have had many meaningful experiences over the course of our life together and would love to connect with old classmates. Jeff & I organized our 35th year class reunions in 2002 & 2003 and since then we continue to be blessed with communications from lots of people we didn't necessarily know well in school. I am very active in the Alumni Association and serve on the board of directors as well as being the 1968 Class Representative to the board. At this time in our life, I am feeling truly blessed and I hope you are in your life also. -Penny P.S. Please email me so I can update your address, phone number etc. on the current class information list I maintain. I am in the process of planning our 40th reunion and if you want to be included in mailings make sure you send me an email.
